As December Falls

Pop-punk has found its global ambassadors in As December Falls, a UK-based band on the brink of their first-ever Australian tour. Kicking off on February 14, 2025, the three-day event promises high-energy shows that blend emotional intensity with a lively atmosphere. In a recent conversation, band members Bethany and Ande Hunter shared their journey, creative insights, and what Aussie fans can expect.

Breaking Boundaries with "Angry Cry"

With their latest single, Angry Cry, the band has pushed creative boundaries. Bethany explained, “The whole chorus of Angry Cry is this grunge riff with a dance beat behind it. We've never done anything like that before.” Released just two weeks prior to our interview, the single had already earned the distinction of being their best-performing track out of the gate.

Ande revealed that the song was part of a broader creative leap. "We’ve had so much more time to sit and work on songs. It gave us the freedom to try things we wished we could have done earlier." The collaboration with producer Alex Copp encouraged this experimental approach. "His ethos is that no idea is bad until it’s tried," Ande said. "That philosophy meant no restrictions creatively until we'd tested every idea."

Reflecting on the song’s themes, Bethany said, “I’ve had so many people contacting me saying they relate so hard to this. I knew they would. That’s why I needed to get it out there.”

Touring, Jet Lag, and Aussie Breakfasts

This February, As December Falls will bring their pop-punk party down under. Bethany noted, “As a Summer-Fall show, it’s a party everyone’s invited to. We bring a lot of high energy.” For the band, the excitement is palpable. Ande added, “People have been asking us for years to come to Australia. It feels surreal that it’s actually happening.”

Beyond the music, the band is eager to dive into Aussie culture. “I’ve heard that breakfast in Australia is incredible. I don’t know why, but I’m into it,” Bethany quipped. While exploring local cafes, they’re also planning some chaos with fellow musicians. “I’ll probably try to hook up with the RedHook guys. It’s going to be wild,” Ande said with a laugh.

The tour represents a fresh challenge for the band. “Every time you go into a new territory, it feels like starting again,” Ande said. “We’ll be playing smaller venues this time, but the goal is to smash them and keep coming back to bigger ones.”

Independent Success: Building Their Legacy

The band’s independent status has shaped their journey in unique ways. As Bethany explained, “We’ve never worked with a label or management. It’s always been us making it up as we go.” This approach has paid off, with the group recently winning Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Reflecting on their growth, Ande said, “It’s easy to forget how far we’ve come when you’re in the thick of it. Our crew member Nathan reminded us recently how crazy the last two years have been. We’ve gone from playing 200-cap rooms to selling out 1,000-cap venues in Europe.”

The recognition from the industry and fans alike has fueled their ambition. “It’s not just about building in the UK or Europe,” Bethany shared. “Now, we’re focusing on Australia. After that, it’s the U.S. and maybe Asia. We’re going to be on tour all the time.”

Looking Ahead

With their Australian tour imminent and a new album ready to launch, As December Falls is set to ignite the pop-punk scene on a global scale. Tickets for their February shows are already on sale, with more updates on their website and Patreon.

And for fans down under? Expect a show where you’re not just in the audience—you’re part of the energy.
