Week In Review - Jan 13 2014
I realise this post is a little bit late and that I promised all of my readers a Wolf of Wall Street review last week I was simply too busy and couldn’t find time to fit it into my schedule. So this post will instead focus on three main points I took from the week in wrestling & then let you in on some exciting news.
Last Monday on WWE Raw I witnessed one of the best closing segments I have ever seen in my many years watching professional wrestling. Once again Daniel Bryan proved that he is the most over wrestler on the rosters & WWE really should cash in on this while they can. If you haven’t seen the segment yet I have embedded it below and strongly suggest checking it out.
This past week the WWE also announced the imminent launch of the WWE Network, this is one announcement that I actually agree with the marketing in that it will revolutionise the industry. By offering all of WWE’s current programming live, plus their tape library on demand & all of the PPV for $9.99 per month they have just secured their own future and an even bigger slice of the market. Especially in places like Australis where the only legal way to receive WWE programming is through Foxtel which is approximately $30 month (just for the weekly programming plus around the same again for each PPV), which for myself as a recent university graduate with only a part time job is far to expensive just for my wrestling fix whereas $9.99 is much more viable.
Finally the last piece of news that grabbed my attention was the debut of The American Wolves, Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards, in TNA on Impact Wrestling’s Genesis broadcast. This came as a shock to me as the last I had heard was they were preparing to head to WWE’s developmental territory NXT after completing some final indy dates. The manner of their debut also shocked me. Debuting in a quick backstage segment with Dixie Carter seemed to be a waste to me but I am willing to let it play out as the teasing of a new investor intrigues me & now I am even more excited for their in-ring debut.
Once again apologies to my readers who were waiting on the Wolf of Wall Street review, I intend to watch it tomorrow and have my review up by Friday afternoon at the latest. I have however been dealing with some family health issues that took up a lot of my time last week. In more exciting news on the personal front though I have been in talks with my close friend Nathan Edwards regarding a new venture together so keep an eye out for further announcements from us regarding that.
As always thanks for reading & I look forward to continuing the conversation in the comments below, via Twitter @Appsy_JAM or on Facebook at JAM – Jamie Apps Media
